CMMP Surgical Center – Organization History and Ownership

CMMP Surgical Center, LLC was the original vision of a local physician/surgeon, Carl R. Doerhoff, M.D. Dr. Doerhoff envisioned a facility that would offer the residents of Jefferson City and surrounding areas an alternative to the local hospitals. A place where patients could chose to have the same procedures that are performed in a hospital outpatient setting at a more reasonable cost. Dr. Doerhoff approached some colleagues and together they founded CMMP Surgical Center and broke ground in 1994. Construction was completed in 1995.

CMMP Surgical Center opened in 1995, under the direct ownership of physicians; the first outpatient procedure was a laparoscopic hernia repair and was performed on September 14, 1995 by Dr. Carl Doerhoff. We were the first Medicare Certified and State Licensed freestanding Ambulatory Surgical Center(ASC) in Mid-Missouri. Our service area is approximately a 100-mile radius of Jefferson City, Missouri serving more than 70,000 residents. There are two hospitals in Jefferson City, as well as another surgery center.

From June 1999 until October 2018, the physician owners partnered up with a healthcare management company. The idea in partnering with a management company was to gain better managed care contracted rates, advanced supply chain management and to recruit new surgeons to the area. Since October 2018, the facility is once again 100% physician owned.

We are a multi-specialty surgery center. We do not employ physicians. We offer surgical services in the following specialties: General, GI, Ophthalmology, Podiatry, ENT, Oral/Dental and Orthopedics.
